More recently, the new ASI PRISMA hyperspectral satellite has opened access to the data archive since its launch in March 2019 and, in addition, provides the opportunity to order shooting to any area of ββinterest, see PRISMA Mission Selection. All this is available for free with a limit of 218 scenes available for ordering and downloading. 30x30 km in area with a panchromatic resolution of 5m and hyperspectral resolution of 30m for 239 channels! The satellite is new, its technical testing has just ended and therefore practically nothing is known about it. Let's find out for ourselves what this satellite can be of interest by comparing its images with other openly accessible hyperspectral and multispectral images.
For comparison of the spectrograms, we will choose the territory in Indonesia - there I was able to find the intersection of the available scenes of ASI PRISMA and another hyperspectral satellite EO-1 HYPERION, while the rest of the used datasets are available for the whole or almost the entire territory of the planet. So, we will see the spectrograms of the following satellite missions and the data sets they provide: ASI PRISMA L2C (30m), EO-1 HYPERION 1T (30m), Sentinel-3 OLCI EFR (300m), Sentinel-2 MSI (10/20 / 60m) , ASTER L1T (15/30 / 90m), USGS Landsat 8 SR (30m). For comparison, three cloudless plots were selected: dense forest (Wood), salt water not too close to the shore (Water) and land area without noticeable vegetation (Land).
