We make an arcade machine with a bill acceptor and a coin acceptor

I want to tell you about the experience of creating an Arcade machine with a bill acceptor and a coin acceptor. The article does not pretend to be a step-by-step assembly guide, but rather is the goal of sharing your experience and thoughts. All successful books on successful success write that business needs to be scaled. Who am I to argue with a book. Therefore, we will build three at once. Perhaps we get the tools and start collecting.

Parts before assembly

We

assemble the housing We draw and prepare the parts, foreseeing all the technical holes, the location of the components and their fastenings, the placement of the controls. The installation and placement of the details of the coin acceptor and bill acceptor makes us stir a little bit convolutions, since the dimensions of the technical compartment in the rack are very limited. Do not forget about the idea of an independent β€œhead” of the apparatus itself, the design should allow you to freely remove the upper part of the arcade machine and use it without greedy impulses, only for game and pleasure. We throw off the CNC guys for cutting, the chipboard material is 16 mm matte black. We pick up and connect the parts with a light hand with a screwdriver.

Accessories

We are armed with accessories. In our clip, there are two control sticks, 16 multi-colored buttons in the "American" style with a full body kit in the form of lights, wires and a board to which it all connects. Start buttons of two players. Power socket with fuse. Power supply with the ability to issue both 12 and 5 volts. This is important, since we need to power the button illumination from it, the sound and the board itself with games. The question arises - Why is the board with pre-installed games used, and not raspberry pi or miniPC on Windows. The answer is simple, uninterrupted and reliable. The board itself has on board 412 "selected" games from arcade machines, we need a Jamma connection interface, a VGA monitor output and works like a clock.

β†’Here it is worth making a small clarification. The project was created many, many years ago, which is why you can see buttons and sticks of this type. For the first and last time. All of the following projects were carefully equipped with buttons and sticks from Sanwa's true samurai. The same applies to the board with games.

Jamma cable and board wiring diagram Avid

details

Here they are! Greedy components. The cash acceptor CashCode MVU 1024 from the real capitalists is responsible for the selection of paper money from the players. The coin acceptor is simple but reliable. Accepts only minted coins. Witchers play for free.

Control panel assembly

Control Panel. Set the buttons and sticks in their places. Do not forget about the Start and Exit buttons. When using the Jamma interface, it is impossible to get confused in the connection. We pass the backlight cable from the power supply to the buttons and make wired chaos even more. Subsequently, the wires fit nicely into neat bundles and the chaos recedes.

Flour of choosing the location of the power supply and the board.

An attentive reader will notice the torment of choosing the location of the power supply and the board. As a result, everything is in place. Speakers appeared and the monitor disappeared.

Crimp and solder

It's time to get crimp and solder tools. We organize the supply of power to all nodes from one point under the control of the fuse. We feed: the monitor, the backlight and the power supply itself. The soldering iron came in handy for a simple sound amplifier with a six-fingered potentiometer.

Queue for installation of components We

connect, check. Next, install LCD monitors 19 inches with an aspect ratio of 5: 4, the back cover and set the backlight. Installation of the panel with a bill acceptor and a coin acceptor did not get into the photo. Previously, the machines had already pasted β€œArtami” in a circle. It's time to call the customer for acceptance.

Mustachioed customer

Is it ready now? Done. Most of all the customer was interested in the compartment at the bottom of the rack.

Head

First, we’ll make sure that the idea of a modular automaton has been saved and that you can safely remove the top and take along to play with a friend.

The reverse side of the head

The lock on the rear wall and the fan grilles protect the curious fingers from injury. There are suggestions why there is a hole in the upper left corner on the back cover?

Assembled and switched off

Assembled and included

Three in a row

Assembly result. It was a difficult experience, I learned a lot and first realized that not all information can be found on the Internet. Especially when it comes to bill acceptors. In the photo you can carefully consider the drawings and find your favorite characters from video games.

Thank you for reading to the end and see you!
