[Poll about translation difficulties] Localization of GitLab needs community opinion

image

Good afternoon. The volunteer translation team of GitLab wants to appeal to the community of developers, testers, managers and other professionals working with this product, as well as to all who care. It should be noted that this is not a new initiative, the Russian language has existed in GitLab for a long time. However, recently the percentage of translation has been increasing and we would like to focus on quality.

Often, we are faced with the fact that a free translation into Russian is more often unclaimed due to the fact that Russian versions of highly specialized terms are either translated too verbatim or a variant that is not β€œused by the people”. We would like to use the localized version of GitLab was convenient, comfortable, and most importantly - understandable. The problem also lies in the fact that within the team there are disagreements in the translation of certain terms, and naturally, the opinion of each of us does not reflect the opinion of the majority.

We would like you to take part in a survey that contains options for translating controversial terms, share your opinion and leave your mark on the development of GitLab. There is also a free input field in the form if there is no term there, but you would like to pay attention to it.

You can participate in the survey at the following link - Google Forms .
