Poly Studio Video Bar Test (video)

The Poly Studio video panel for small meeting rooms has been officially available in Russia since the fall of 2019. We were offered to try - we tell what happened. Under the cut video for 7 minutes and decryption text. Video and sound were recorded directly from Poly Studio.

This is a multifunctional all-in-one video call device. It can be connected to a computer via USB, used as a speakerphone for mobile via Bluetooth, no special settings are needed for this. Any person who goes into the call room with their laptop or smartphone can start talking immediately after connecting / pairing.

The kit comes with a power supply, a 5-meter USB cable and a remote control. The device is as friendly as possible for administrators and ordinary users. Everything works out of the box. For administration, they provided special software to load a single configuration into all the meeting rooms.



The camera shoots in 4K resolution, with automatic panning and zooming ePTZ. This technology focuses the camera on one speaker, or on a group of people in the room so that they fit well and are distributed across the frame. It also tracks movements. It does not work instantly, but the delay is quite comfortable.

If you disable the cropping mode, the camera will simply take a general plan with a fairly wide viewing angle of 120 °. In the same mode, you can set two preset options for tilt and zoom with the optimal frame from the remote control, if you roughly understand that no one will run around the room.

The remote control works via bluetooth, no need to aim anywhere. You can manually aim the camera from it, adjust the volume and turn off the sound, enable / disable the cropping mode. There are also buttons to accept / reject a call, because in fact Poly Studio acts as a headset.

The optimum audio capture radius is up to 3.7 meters. Automatic speaker tracking allows you to transfer the camera to the person who is talking at the moment. There is NoiseBlock technology that drowns out typical office noises such as rustling papers, knocking on the keyboard. But according to the results, it blocks the sound only when it is clearly distinguishable in silence. If the speaker broadcasts at the same time, the papers continue to rustle, the phones ring, everything lives its normal life.

You can also use the Acoustic Fence function when the sound is captured only within a given radius. All who are behind the "fence" should not be heard. The administrator can configure the settings for a particular room. It is very convenient if you have, for example, open space. The video below beautifully showed how it works. But we did not succeed in drowning anything at the time of the conversation. Perhaps more subtle settings are needed. The sound at the same time captures very clean and good.

Demonstration of Acoustic Fence Technology

Poly Studio works with any communication application that supports standard AV drivers. Mentioned LogMeIn GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Google services, Amazon Chime, Cisco Webex. The solution is certified to work with Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Zoom. We used TrueConf, they added Poly hardware support in their Windows application, everything works.



The network caught interesting photos where Poly actually offers to use Studio as a desktop personal device. A person organizes distance learning in this way, moves between the table and the whiteboard. It is unlikely that the teacher will start such a quarantine at home, it costs about 90 thousand, if only with an eye to a bright office future.
