First impressions and key features of MIUI 12

On April 27, 2020, a presentation of a new version of the shell based on Android 10 was held for Xiaomi devices - MIUI 12, although in beta status.

Following this, the well-known resource xiaomi.eu introduced its weekly localized firmware, which includes many languages โ€‹โ€‹other than Chinese and English, which are based on Chinese beta versions.

A small overview of what user experience this update brings.

Introduction

This update has a lot of new things, but I will focus on what caught my attention. So to say, a small review from an advanced user of the device:

I really like the black and dark interface, for the sake of this a device with an OLED screen was bought, therefore I approach the story from this position.

New animation engine

This update is considered anniversary, since the first version of the shell was released 10 years ago. And, perhaps, in honor of this or for the sake of it (here Xiaomi itself is more visible), they wrote a new animation engine with advanced architecture. It looks fresh and impressive, smoothness is really felt.

Cute gestures that borrowed the best from stock Android:

Animation of opening and minimizing applications:

Seamlessly implemented auto-rotate screen:

Convenient handling of pop-up notifications and their turning into floating windows:

Also, we added the ability to install different โ€œAlways On Displayโ€ options from the network:

Security and privacy

MIUI has previously had extensive control over application permissions, but now they have done even more, which is good.

So, permissions to the application can now be granted only in the active mode of operation or once:

Also, now there is a notification setting about some permissions in the background:

And the entire history of permissions granted can be found in All Actions:

Adaptive system black mode

A very cool thing that was sorely lacking. It analyzes, as I understand it, layers and paints the background in dark or black, but the text is vice versa:

Battery

Design changes, but improving the appearance:

But the graph itself has become more convenient, due to the fact that you can choose a time interval:

And also watch the consumption by the hour:

Device usage time

An interesting point, for fans of statistics, as well as those who want to adjust their interaction with the device:

Conclusion

The default design has become smack of iOS, but unlike it, everything is customized and changed.

Minor bugs are present, because The version is in beta, but the general impression does not spoil. I already use it as everyday.

I have listed the main innovations, in my opinion. You can find more detailed reviews on the same YouTube .
