Gamification of personal productivity

Foreword

I think many people have come across articles on various methods of increasing their productivity, but in reality, few adhere to strict discipline and daily carry out the necessary ToDo plan. I am one of those.

But one way or another, the question of personal effectiveness has been of interest to me for many years and I am experimenting in every possible way to find the answer to the question "Why can some people move toward the goal on a daily basis, while others after a week cease to adhere to the plan completely?".
Actually, this modest article is my assumption, which so far works for all my friends. They supported and kindly agreed to participate in the experiment, which lasted exactly 30 days.

How it all began

As far back as 5 years ago, I tried the most classical approaches - a pen and a notebook, where I wrote daily in the form of a ToDo list what I need to do for a day. Usually, I wrote down plans for the next day in the evening, so that during the night my subconscious mind would prepare for a productive day.

The list looked something like this:

  1. Make an appointment with Ivan Petrovich
  2. To phone with the customer and discuss TK
  3. To add an ABC module
    ...
    And so on.

Quite simple and at the same time terribly inconvenient. On one day I could set 3 tasks and finish it by lunchtime, on the other there were so many tasks that I did not have time to complete even half. There was no clear plan on how to divide them, how to sort by priority and how to evaluate yourself in general. Yes, the assessment was very important to me, as a person likes to structure everything.

It was important in a month to look at your result and draw certain conclusions. In addition to monthly reports on my progress, I wanted to understand corny what grade I received for the current day.
