11 things I understood about CustDev

My name is Sergey Koloskov. I am the product manager at Ozon, the program manager at Otus, and the author of the Fresh Product Manager telegram channel. Today I will talk about the things that I realized about CustDev for all my experience.

Castdev (from the English Customer development, abbreviated custdev) is the process of extracting insights from users to generate, validate and prioritize ideas for product development through interviews and qualitative research. First, a problem is identified, then a product is developed, and not vice versa. You can skip any hypothesis through the custom, but you need to know for sure that there are useful and useless questions and answers, that you don’t need to sell to the custom, and select the segment you need and, preferably, love it.

Castdev is not a goal or even a means. Castdev is a business management approach that helps save money and time by launching only the right products.
