Words in numbers: free blog analytics habravebinary with Yandex.Metrica

Hello, Habr content studio is in touch! On April 30, we will hold a webinar about a cool content tool, accessible for all corporate blogs, but for some reason rarely used, about Yandex.Metrica.

Why did we decide to host this webinar?

We added the ability to “tie” Yandex.Metrica to the corporate blog on Habré back in 2019 - we reported this on the newsletter, we ourselves began to actively use it for “debriefing” on native projects and not only. However, we noticed that often customers learn about the existence of this tool only at meetings with us.

Our client manager Sasha Telitsyn conducted a small investigation and found out that ⅔ corporate blog owners do not use content analytics at all, and even fewer people can work with Metrica. The reasons are different - from “But what was it possible?” to “And why do I need these numbers?” and "How does it even work?"

So, perhaps, it's time to spend an educational program, we decided. We prepared a review of several cases and invited to the event someone who knows this tool like no other - Ksenia Anikeev, the head of the service and the main ideologist of the Content Metrics reports.

Well, I must admit, we just really missed you and our habraposidelki, useful and sincere. So we hope that in conditions of self-isolation you can find an hour and a half for useful content and for seeing and hearing.

What useful things can you learn with Yandex.Metrica?

Any content analytics is needed in order to understand what, how and for whom to write materials. Yandex.Metrica lets you know:

  • how much time a user spends reading a specific article;
  • how many percent of people read the article and at what stages they “fell off”;
  • how many people scrolled the material to the end and at what point they were tired of flipping through;
  • from where the most valuable readers come to the page - those who read the entire material and follow the necessary links;
  • Do you mostly read 20-year-old geek-girls or handsome uncles for 60;
  • which topics are best for your audience;
  • and much more.

It will look something like this:

Of course, for a successful blog to work, it is not necessary to regularly monitor each of these metrics. But it is also impossible to divide them into more or less important ones, it all depends on the particular case.

Why even study all this?

To optimize the work with content:
  • clearly present the portrait of your audience and write, addressing it to her, and not just “into space”;
  • pre-mark topics that are likely to "not go";
  • ;
  • , , « ?».

The webinar will be started by Sasha Telitsyn - he will talk in general about blog analytics, about the capabilities of Metrica and how to connect it ( spoiler: very easy ).

“I’ll be the first to speak, so for starters I’ll introduce participants to Habr’s corporate blogs, their features and rates. Those who do not yet have a corporate blog on Habré, can join and listen in a condensed form to what we usually present to potential customers as part of individual meetings.

Next, I’ll talk about how we help our clients determine how relevant and interesting their content is for the very demanding Habr audience, how to understand what increases or decreases the audience’s interest in their posts, what mistakes they make.

Corporate blogs have their own built-in analytics by authors and hubs, it looks like this:

Or like this:

Many companies asked us to add more data to the analytics, for example, information about which audience reads them, so we connected the Analytics section with two counters, one of which is Yandex.Metrica. I will briefly introduce you to its main sections, such as “Materials”, “Authors” and “Summary”, and then colleagues will move on to details ”.

Then the producer of our content studio Dima Karlov will tell you how to draw a portrait of your company based on data (including from Metrica): where to get information from, how to separate important from unimportant, and use analytics to look at your blog “from the side”.

Finally, together with the manager of the client department, Tanya Batyrova, we will dive into the analysis of the audience and see how we can see how different the audience of similar blogs may seem at first glance. And also learn how to correctly compare posts, blogs and authors.

“I will primarily analyze specific cases - when the articles of companies that are in equal conditions (the same tariff, the same number of subscribers, write to the same hubs),“ worked ”in completely different ways. We will dive into the analytics of successful and unsuccessful articles and see what was hidden behind a large and small number of views.

And, of course, I’ll try to give more practical recommendations, for example, talk about how long it is worth evaluating the effectiveness of an article, how many articles per week (or per month) are best published, how to analyze topics and audience and based on analytics data to prepare good content -plan for more successful blogging on Habr. "

At the end of the webinar, the service manager and chief ideologist of Yandex.Metrica content reports, Ksenia Anikeeva, will hold a Q & A session. She will go through the questions that we have already collected following the results of communication with customers, and will answer questions from the chat. Yes, if you already have questions about using Yandex.Metrica for blog analytics on Habré, you can leave them in the comments to this post - we will analyze and clarify everything!
