Soldering at home: stream recording

Recently, we conducted a two-hour stream of "soldering at home": the developer of the Yandex.Station hardware Gennady "Crail" Kruglov showed how he solders in a home laboratory. Gene showed the devices in the laboratory and the soldering process itself, and during breaks answered dozens of questions from the audience. Here is the stream entry:

Gene has been developing electronics since 2002. During this time, he participated in more than two hundred iron projects and began to teach at MSTU. Bauman. Now he reads two courses there: “Digital Signal Processing” and “Microprocessors and Digital Devices”. In Yandex Gene since 2015.

Here are the devices he built at home:
  • Automatic wire cutting and stripping machine
  • PCB baking oven
  • Compressor
  • MBS-9 microscope with homemade illumination and a camera
  • Soldering iron and soldering station
  • Hot Air Soldering Iron
  • Dispenser

The idea of the project was born at the end of March. Originally, it sounded like this: “We stream on Twitch how a person solders something at home. We’ll test the hypothesis that everyone wants to build a smart home. ” After a series of discussions, they decided to combine the soldering process and the educational part - thereby reducing the entry threshold to zero. Both the student and the experienced engineer could watch the stream - asking tricky questions and answering others in chat rooms. We have used (and plan to use) four streaming platforms: Yandex.Air, Twitch, YouTube and VKontakte.

The experiment was successful - on April 29 there will be a second stream. You can vote for his topic in the telegram channelI. Iron. So far, the leaders are “Development on STM32: life hacks and stories from practice” and “Instruments in the laboratory - from wire strippers to a spectrum analyzer”. Video materials will be posted in the same channel: now you can download the drawings of the Yandex.Station case and the circuit diagram of the stove for printed circuit boards.

The next stream will take place this Wednesday, April 29, at 18:00 Moscow time. It will be available to everyone, but we can remind you of the beginning and send a link - to do this, register here .
