A simplified approach to calculating the date of availability of custom-made production

Gantt chart method and suitable for small companies. Including with the stocks of the remains of work in progress.

The challenge is to get away from:

  • average term;
  • term with a large margin;
  • appeals to production with a request to calculate the period in the head (or do it as the second stage after machine calculation).

Without a production plan!

Difficulties

  • Production at sites can go sequentially and in parallel;
  • Depending on the project, the site may or may not be involved;
  • Production may include long projects, the production of which is carried out at intervals and does not fully load the site, despite the generation of a large "line";
  • Work in progress may be used;
  • There may be a different delivery time for the necessary components for different sections;
  • Technological temporary clearance between sections may be necessary;
  • The growth of β€œadministrative chaos” with an increase in the number of projects, which leads to a drop in productivity;

The basis of the method

  1. We need to know the queue time at each site. The queue for the site consists of the remnants of time for the implementation of projects in production. In order for this to be relevant, implementation should be carried out in sections. It is quite simple to organize even in the most extreme cases. Of course, there should be estimates for the upcoming project.
