A pandemic is raging in the world, even the ruble seemed to be caught by a coronavirus. But despite all the circumstances, the second season of Digital Breakthrough started successfully on March 17th.

In this difficult time, the IT community was faced with a bunch of new challenges: everyone who can can go online. But this is a time of new opportunities and unprecedented development for IT projects. We offer not to spend free time lying on the couch, but to assemble a cool team and begin to prepare to participate in the country's largest hackathon.



Indeed, this year we have prepared many innovations that will make the contest even more useful and interesting:

  • Bun number one. Participants will not just follow the TK points, but will show the maximum level of creativity. After all, partner companies will present complex cases, the solution of which can be really implemented in the business.
  • The second pleasant innovation was a full-fledged HR assessment, which will allow participants to present themselves favorably to the best employers, and the latter, in turn, will have access to the participants' showcase on the project website. HR partners of our partners will gather at the site, who will select experts and give consultations together with experts and trackers on the spot.
  • Bun number three. Now the hackathons will become larger, each with 400-500 participants. The coolest specialists in the regions will compete and give out their maximum opportunities on the site.
  • Well, last but not least. This is undoubtedly the largest community of programmers, marketers, UX designers and people who are simply not indifferent to the IT sphere; top IT specialists will gather at the site of one large project to solve the most urgent and urgent problems.

Considering that IT is now at the peak of its capabilities, we decided not to stand aside and joined the We Together campaign.

As part of the action, we launched a search for IT solutions and volunteer teams that can help in the fight against coronavirus. Participants in 2019 and 2020 have already teamed up to solve pressing problems. We talk about the most interesting.

In cases of deviations from the individually calculated norm, the program displays a notification that does not disappear until the user corrects the situation. The program also offers recommendations for improving the diet, the need to take a break, the time for going to bed.

To make friends with TensorFlow.js , namely with face-api.js and PoseNet , turned out to be simple. As with many [sensible] npm packages, the Just Works principle worked. Until the attempt to compile all this under Windows (by default we did everything under macOS).

So, what exactly was the Masha application able to teach during the hackathon:

  • Assuming a person’s gender, age, and mood are standard face-api pieces that ultimately make up the lion's share of the “wow effect”
  • Determine the distance to the screen - the most banal definition of the proportion of the distance between the eyes from the width of the screen :)
  • Scold for deviation from the center line
  • To beat on the hands with a ruler (crossed out) to ask not to touch the face (who knew how relevant this advice would soon become),
  • Make your shoulders level with the horizon
  • Monitor head tilt
  • Only work as a registered user and ignore strangers

We just took ready-made models and hung the simplest math from above. Layout of beauty took much longer than working with TensorFlow. In our application, all personal data is stored on the user's computer, so the “little internal paranoid” is happy and can not be afraid of the blinking light of the camera.

After the hackathon, Masha learned a few more new tricks:

Do not work in the dark, drink water more often and defeat procrastination. We plan to organize the development of presets using the most declarative JSON tree - if everything works out, it will be worthy of a separate article. Most importantly, we did not put the code on the shelf, but made a useful product that we use ourselves, and it already helps make our life a little healthier :). "
