Many Ukrainian medical institutions were not ready to fight COVID-19: doctors lacked equipment for ventilation of the lungs, and often protective masks.

According to scientists, the majority of those infected (about 80%) suffer the disease in a mild form, 14% in a severe form, and 6% in a critical form. Representatives of the second and third groups have pulmonary edema: if they are not artificially ventilated, a person will not be able to breathe.

In Ukraine, an insufficient number of ventilators and accessories for them. According to the media platform Ukrinform , in the Odessa region there are only 72 such devices, of which 40% are occupied, and some are outdated or not equipped with consumables. Equipment supplies are still difficult.

In this difficult situation, the Infomir group of companies, the owner of the only 3D printing line in Eastern Europe, Hewlett-Packard 5210, offered to print adapters for mechanical ventilation devices on its equipment. The first to introduce such a practiceItalian volunteers who printed hundreds of valves for ventilators on a 3D printer. In Italy, the β€œH” Connector was also developed - an adapter that allows you to simultaneously connect several people to one ventilator. The adapter model was created by Copper 3D.

Infomir received the β€œH” adapter model from the 3D printing studio Revel Lab.

Victor Artyushchenko, Commercial Director, Infomir:

We contacted the Anti-Crisis Headquarters in the Odessa region and offered help. The model for printing adapters was provided by Revel Lab, and we did a test print. The prototype was approved, and our engineers launched a batch of 50 parts. At the moment, we are preparing to send the first set of products.

The first customers will receive these components on March 27: they will send adapters by mail to medical institutions in Ukrainian cities. In the future, the company will be able to print 400 products daily. Adapters are made of environmentally friendly material - polyamide PA 12.

The company supplies adapters for free to the Anti-Crisis Headquarters in Odessa region . Further, representatives of the organization contact medical institutions and agree on delivery methods.

The Infomir initiative in partnership with Recel Lab will increase the chances of those infected to recover and ensure the safety of medical staff in the fight against COVID-19.
