Homemade antiseptic from what is in the pharmacy. We make alcohol from vodka without a moonshine in the old-fashioned way

In this article, I will talk about preparing hand antiseptics using an aloe vera moisturizing gel, as well as a WHO prescription antiseptic from components that can be bought at a regular pharmacy (yes, alcohol is also available, although it is not sold in Russia).

In the second part of the article, we consider cooking at home without a moonshine still alcohol with a strength of 80 degrees. The raw material for this will be vodka, we will prepare in three old-fashioned ways - freezing, distilling in a water bath through a silicone tube and distilling in two pans.

Let's start with the preparation of an antiseptic.

Due to the epidemic of the coronavirus Covid-19, in many countries not only respirators and medical masks, but also hand antiseptics began to end in shops and pharmacies, and therefore the World Health Organization issued a document with the recommended antiseptic formula , which can be made in small quantities in pharmacies, at home, etc.

The recipe for the simplest antiseptic based on ethyl alcohol (ethanol) with a volume of 1 liter:

  • Ethyl alcohol 96% - 833.3 ml
  • Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - 41.7 ml
  • Glycerin 98% - 14.5 ml
  • Water - up to a volume of 1l

ready-made antiseptic contains in volume percent:

  • Ethanol 80%
  • Glycerin 1.45%
  • Hydrogen peroxide 0.125%

A similar antiseptic based on isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol):

  • Isopropyl alcohol 99.8% - 751.5 ml
  • Hydrogen Peroxide 3%: 41.7 ml
  • Glycerin 98%: 14.5 ml
  • Water - up to a volume of 1l

ready-made antiseptic contains in volume percent:

  • Isopropyl alcohol 75%
  • Glycerin 1.45%
  • Hydrogen peroxide 0.125%

The main active antiseptic substance is ethyl or isopropyl alcohol, glycerin in the composition of the antiseptic is necessary to slow the evaporation of alcohol, as well as to moisturize the hands and prevent skin drying when treated with ethyl alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide is needed to further disinfect the antiseptic itself from bacterial spores, etc. ., which does not kill ethyl or isopropyl alcohol, for which, after preparation, before use, the antiseptic is aged 72 hours.
