RPA | Process robotization through the eyes of an analyst

For the past year and a half, I have been implementing and developing the RPA block at one of the most popular platforms in the company .

There was no clear implementation project: the management spied out β€œfashionable” technology from friendly organizations, gave me the task to probe the topic, and gave the units a cry for collecting applications for automation.

This publication was born as a plan for speaking to colleagues who are interested in introducing robots and are familiar only with advertising materials. I admit that when transferring these thoughts to a public resource, it was difficult for me to decide on the target audience and cut out only the fragment that suits it. For business customers, project managers, and those just interested, it should give an orderly view of the technology and common approaches. For the rest, these are personal impressions of a person who likes to solve process problems and is not diligent enough to be a programmer. Technical details are intentionally omitted - I will not tell you anything interesting to the developers.

And here is the plan:

Plan

What is a robot and what can it do

From the point of view of participation in the company's business processes, the robot is a virtual employee-operator. Here's how alive, only:

RPA not only provides tools for solving applied problems, but also sets up to work primarily with processes, not limited to the automation of specific information systems. Robotization helps to pose the right questions and can even help to formalize business processes.

To me, as an analyst:

  • a new side has opened up to support business processes - in fact, their partial execution
  • robots allow you to be an all-in-one specialist, independently solve business problems
  • Constant change of applications does not make you bored.
