History: Anemia, Raw Liver, and Anemic Dogs

The history of vitamin B12 took its path in the mid-19th century. The English doctor Thomas Addison for the first time described a disease characterized by anemia, weakness, fainting conditions, a bright red “varnished” tongue, and in the later stages led to damage to the brain and spinal cord. At that time, there was no cure for the disease, and the disease gradually led to death. Her name: pernicious or pernicious anemia.
