IT girls, where are you from? Let's build a map

RUVDS congratulates all IT professionals on March 8!

This year, we decided not to give tulips and not to make a selection of geek gifts. We took a different path and created the IT is female page to show the presence of female specialists in IT.

Any girl working in IT can log in to her through a social network, write her position and company name and appear on the page.

The site has a special meter and heat map - on it you can track offices in which there are more specialists.

You can see the entire tape on the site 8march.ruvds.com

We decided to make such a congratulation for several reasons.

  1. First, tell the female colleagues that we are proud of them.
In a country full of stereotypes, where most girls are taught from childhood that their main task is to successfully marry and have children, the decision to pursue a career in IT requires perseverance, courage and independence.
  2. The second reason - we hope that if you come up with counterarguments against sexist stereotypes (and do it publicly as well), they will begin to die off faster. These stereotypes harm not only women, but also the country's economy, the scientific and IT community.
  3. We wanted not only to operate with statistics, but to show real people - programmers, back-end, front-end, analysts, designers, marketers and many others.

And here’s what the girls write on the site:

Alena is a front-end freelance developer
Β« , !Β» β€” . , .

β€” Backend Developer PyLadies SPb
. , .

β€” β€” IBS Appline
, ) IT β€” !) )

Monika β€” Project Manager protocols.io
Who run the world? Girls!

We decided that the best time to say and do all this is March 8, the day of solidarity in the struggle of women for equal rights.

If you are an IT specialist - join on the site, mark your office on the map.

And we wish all fellow girls a happy holiday, equal salaries, security and simple human happiness.
