Smart sun visor from Bosch. Prototype test

image

Bosch has developed the Virtual Visor, a prototype of the smart sun visor. This is a panel with a transparent LCD display, divided into hex cells (cells). The system independently determines which fields need to be darkened to protect the driver’s eyes from sunlight.

The size and location of the shadow are calculated by the algorithm based on data from the built-in cameras, which determines the location of the head, the direction of view and the location of the Sun. Thus, most of the visor remains transparent and does not interfere with the review.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), sun glare causes thousands of accidents, and the risk of a car accident in the sun blinding drivers is 16% higher than in normal weather conditions.
