Unification of Communications

This year, Microsoft Teams and Zoom are running the Unified Communications Hall. Equipment manufacturers certify their equipment for them. Software makers strive to achieve Zen compatibility with them so that users can call their users and invite them to their meetings. Logitech drives among peripheral equipment manufacturers.

New negotiation solutions are built primarily on Linux, most of them on Android. This opens up opportunities for running different applications and services on the same equipment.

The space of most stands is divided into zones according to the size of the meeting rooms that you want to build at your place. If you need a solid conference room, they offer one solution, if a small meeting room for three is another. At the same time, it is difficult for the uninitiated to catch the difference between the stands of software and hardware manufacturers. They all advertise kits consisting of each other's products. Could unite and save a lot by buying 4-5 stands , as it is now fashionable, according to “life situations”.

InMicrosoft separate Teams stand. They demonstrate integration with technology partners who make certified equipment for the Microsoft Teams Rooms standard - Crestron, Jabra, Lenovo, Logitech, Poly, Sennheiser, Yealink.

Of the new products - a small ThinkSmart View Android tablet with a wireless connection to "expand" the capabilities of your workplace. It can be installed horizontally and vertically. It is positioned as suitable, including for offices with unsecured workplaces. Whoever came first is lazy.

Zoom this time at the last moment occupied a very small space together with the Norwegian team Neat, the heritage of Tanberg, which now creates equipment for them. They say the goal was to do something between expensive codecs and custom laptops not always suitable for video conferencing. Set - a soundbar with microphones and a Neat Bar camera + Neat Pad touch control panel. It is very easy to set up in a few steps, right on the stand it took us about five minutes. Cisco is a little aloof and is building its own ecosystem. They even unexpectedly erected on the stand dull a la brick walls from neighbors from Pexip and Poly. Behind the window in one of these walls, Webex Room Panorama was deployed to completely immerse yourself in the workflow. She makes a lasting impression live. The situation is synchronized on both sides, furniture is selected, people feel like they are in the same room. Good old telepresence is more alive than all living things.

Google booth

Google, like Microsoft, is promoting its G Suit office ecosystem with a focus on Hangouts Meet video conferencing and the various equipment that works with them. A really popular solution, but not with us.

This year Pexip built a huge stand and showed a new product - the Adaptive Composition software service, when regardless of the capabilities of your camera, the picture is scaled and cropped by artificial intelligence. He is trying to provide comfort and convenience, as in a normal meeting, when the surfaces of all tables are on the same level, plus / minus heads are the same size, and people who stop talking do not suddenly disappear from sight. All this is relevant for up to 12 participants, then you still have to swap active with inactive ones, otherwise everything does not fit on the screen.

Yealink, in addition to certified for working with Zoom, Teams and Skype for Business sets, brought two completely new MeetingEye 600 and 400 codecs for medium and small meeting rooms (in the video below). They are made in the Linux soundbar form factor.

They say that Logitech gained advantages when booking exhibition space at the expense of Lifesize, which was owned for some time. According to the rules of rebuking, the owner company can rewrite the points accumulated by the subsidiary. This is a rather complicated highly competitive process at ISE, and Lifesize has a lot of experience in participating. The Logitech booth promises to outshine everyone in Barcelona next year.

The situation with booking seats on the ISE is generally quite tense. Not all comers fit in the Unified Communications room. One and a half points matter, just like in an exam. When some companies refused to participate because of the coronavirus, there was a stir and an attempt to redistribute the vacant space. The organizers were forced to forbid everyone to move, and on vacant lots they organized food and leisure.

Poly, which Plantronics + Polycom, brought the "classic" G7500 system: a hardware codec, a camera of choice EagleEye IV or EagleEye Cube USB, Poly IP microphone, Bluetooth remote control and a set of cables. Positioned as a kit for small and medium-sized conference rooms starting at $ 5000 with an EagleEye Cube camera.

For larger lounges with EagleEye IV, it costs about $ 7500. For a serious project, you can take a second camera with a stand, then the EagleEye Director system will start at $ 10,000.

In general, the topic of managing meeting rooms pretty noticeably hit the remote controls. The control panel / tablet becomes a standard, in itself as a touchscreen or combined with a codec.
