Best Russian IT employers 2019: annual Habr Career rating



For Habr Career, in 2019, almost nine thousand employees rated more than 1.5 thousand organizations. Of these, we left 190 - only those that received ratings from 10 or more employees. 15 companies of different sizes reached the final: from giants with a staff of thousands of people to start-ups, where everyone knows each other by sight. Whatever the company, it turned out that most of all people appreciate interesting tasks, modern technologies and the opportunity to grow professionally.

The employer assessment service for Habr Career was launched in mid-2018. With it, employees anonymously evaluate their employers, and anyone can see the ratings. Based on these data, we annually compile an employer rating, and today we are pleased to present the best employers in IT 2019. Half of these companies participated in the 2018 employer rating . Companies compete in four weight categories:

1. Huge companies

  • Companies of more than 5,000 employees;
  • The median (β€œnormal”) score is 3.9;
  • Assessment received 28 companies ( their rating on Habr Career).

2. Large companies

  • From 1,000 to 5,000 employees
  • The median score is 4.3;
  • Evaluation received 34 companies ( their rating ).

3. Medium-sized companies

  • From 100 to 1,000 employees;
  • The median score is 4.4;
  • Evaluation received 56 companies ( their rating ).

4. Small companies

  • From 10 to 100 employees;
  • The median score is 4.7;
  • Evaluation received 70 companies ( their rating ).

Employees rate their employers by 12 qualities. For each quality, the employee gives a rating from 1 (completely disagree) to 5 (completely agree). Based on individual ratings, a weighted average of each quality is calculated. And from these 12 ratings, the arithmetic average estimate is calculated, which becomes the general estimate of the company that we use to build the rating.
An example of calculating the average company score based on ratings for each quality:
(4.63 + 4.72 + 4.31 + 4.7 + 4.67 + 4.69 + 4.6 + 4.64 + 4.55 + 4 , 4 + 4.54 + 4.65) / 12 = 4.59.

Companies compete in separate weight categories, depending on the number of employees, because we unequivocally revealed the pattern: the larger the company, the lower its average rating for any of the 12 qualities, and the lower its overall average rating. 





P.S


Some companies receive high marks for individual qualities, but at the same time, according to the overall average rating, they are not in the top. Therefore, a little later we will release a separate rating, in which employers will compete for each individual quality, leading them to the top 3 in this quality.
