DORA State of DevOps 2019 report, now also in Russian

Hello, Habr!

I made a translation into Russian of the DORA State of DevOps 2019 report. I propose to read the report, because this is not only the most relevant DevOps study at the moment, but also a ready-made practical guide on DevOps transformation!

The State of DevOps report is a research report released annually by DORA (DevOps Research and Assessment, part of Google Cloud), the study was attended by more than 30,000 respondents from completely different industries - from IT companies to government and medical institutions.

Recently, I have been closely following the DevOps community: I attend or look at recordings of almost all key DevOps conferences. And I noticed a slight discrepancy in the subjects of Russian and foreign reports. For example, we have presented a lot of technical and practical reports - Ansible, containers, clouds and, of course, the ubiquitous Kubernetes. And if you look at the recordings from the DevOps summit, there will be reports on building teams, people, culture and many reports on success stories and fakaps (there are even more such reports) of DevOps transformations in large organizations.

DevOps today can be seen not only as a set of technical practices and approaches: yes, they will help you release faster and develop better, but you can achieve a much greater effect when you decide to implement DevOps as a methodology at the level of the entire organization. This is not a story about how to save on IT and quickly recapture costs, this is a story about how IT, using DevOps approaches, replicated to all teams in an organization, can provide a powerful platform for business without which the company will not be able to compete adequately. And this is not a subjective assessment, but one of the conclusions of the report - using technical practices and approaches, you can influence the effectiveness of the entire organization.

I consider this report to be some standard for the entire industry and was unpleasantly surprised when at one of the conferences where my colleague spoke, I realized from the audience’s reaction that almost no one was aware of what kind of report it was. But in fact, not everything is so bad, at one of the conferences the guys from Express 42 already spoke about the report, even large organizations show interest in the report (hi mail.ru ). I am very pleased that the community is developing.
