Before the third international conference on practical cybersecurity, OFFZONE 2020 only 71 days remained. The organizers are in full swing, but the participants have something to keep themselves waiting. In today's post, we will talk about a chip that will allow OFFZONE visitors to secure a member’s badge with a unique design and configuration.In preparing the conference, we pay close attention to the concept of a badge. Last year, we made it into an interactive circuit board in the form of a 3.5-inch floppy disk. It was possible to tune the board: participants soldered a display, an infrared receiver and other interesting things to it right at the event. We wrote more about this in a post .

Moreover, we decided to give the conference participants the opportunity to fully customize their badge. The scale of the upgrade is limited only by imagination and a very specific specification of the Shitty Add-On V1 connector (for more details on the SAO standard, its technical characteristics and other things can be found here ). The standard is simple and straightforward: even participants who are not very sophisticated in soldering and electronics will be able to prepare add-ons based on it in advance.In order for your addon to match the connector on the board and look beautiful on it, it must satisfy a number of requirements:
- size no more than 5 × 5 cm;
- directed away from the badge board;
- Do not call on the block with the logo;
- pinout as in the picture below (the first pin on the board is indicated by a square).
Layout of add-ons on a badge with pinoutThis year I2C support was not delivered (the standard affects us badly), but you can still light up the LEDs: there will be power on the addon! Otherwise, it is better to use the recommendations from the SAO specification.
If you do not have time to prepare the add-on for April, do not worry! We almost guarantee that it will suit the OFFZONE 2021 badge.By the way, any Shitty Add-On will do, including from other conferences.
