New reserved seat - like a capsule hotel



At the Kazan station in Moscow is an alpha version of the new layout reserved seat car. FPK and TMX did one very awesome thing - instead of rolling out a new train and saying: “Here is a new train, rejoice now, this is an order!” companies showed the first concept and offered to discuss. They take him to exhibitions, next month they will take him to train stations in other regions. And everywhere around the mock-ups there are employees on duty who listen and record what passengers want to change.



Of course, passengers are skeptical and not very ready for anything new. Plus, not everyone understands how the alpha version (layout) differs from the prototype. But as for me - what was rolled out now is a very sound thing. You can argue with me, and TMX - send bugs and requests.

The most important

layout of the reserved seat is divided in half by the cabinet. The top shelf is completely isolated from the bottom. The third shelf is removed, and now you can normally sit upstairs. There is a table for a laptop. The shelves at the head are 20 centimeters wider than at the feet (to the middle of the compartment, in fact). Through the wall, you can open the window to the neighbor and combine the two shelves into one space of the "floor".

What's happening


TMX showed one version of the interior. You must understand that:

  • This is the layout that is needed for one task: to discuss what is good and what is bad and to collect the maximum number of opinions. This development is far away.

The basis of the concept is that for happiness people lack personal space and sockets. They understood this in a cafe a long time ago, but they just started to realize it on trains. The first important change - now you can fence off your shelf with a curtain and completely close yourself from the outside world.



But this could not be done while there was not enough space on the shelves. Therefore, at first I had to come up with something with the third shelf (it was removed to see what happens). And they tried to expand the upper shelves to the connection. It turned out very cool - the large beautiful floors of the capsule hotel.



Then, a wooden wall was placed between the upper shelves. It turned out a reserved seat with a lower floor and an upper floor.

Falling off the top shelf is no longer possible.

In this situation, the lower passengers would be very affected by the invasion of the upper by the table, so the tables were made on the shelves themselves. And they decided to take out one more from the rack on the side of the aisle.

Then the lower shelves were also enlarged and also divided by a partition. The result was a reserved seat, completely divided in half - 4 separate “rooms” of the capsule hotel.

Compartments for compartments were made in the partition.

We watched the passengers sleep. And they found out that a person in a dream has far from the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped. But rather a truncated cone. Hollywood has long tried L-blankets, and now L-shelves. That is, at the top you have 20 centimeters more space. This is, in fact, a cabinet shelf from the previous version of the prototype, only now you can sleep with your head or hand in the cabinet. It sounds strange, but it looks very comfortable.



On the lower shelf, a table was made as on the side in old cars (only more convenient and smaller) so that you could sit together.





All this pulled a lot of problems in the engineer. Because you need to meet the mass of requirements. The basis of sanitary requirements is passage, light and air. The passage of 60 centimeters is saved. Because of the central cabinets, the air began to circulate not quite as it used to be in the “open” car, and therefore individual air ducts were made at the head of each shelf. The light is now like in Ikea's cabinets - on the shelves and multilevel.









Fire requirements - two unobstructed exits. Therefore, coupes 3 and 7 are always assembled without a cabinet. There is a minor bug - there is only enough luggage space under the lower shelf (there is no third one!), But they came up with a crutch for flights where there is a lot of luggage - with a universal zone at the beginning of the car. In the "ventilated" reserved seats a table for those who love glasses.

in the layout. There are no openers under the table in the layout, but it will definitely be. Just as an ugly plane cannot fly, a car without a bottle opener does not travel across Russia.

Cabinets were made on the side shelves (they can be made lockable).

At the top of the USB outlet, at the bottom of the USB and 220 V. In the layout at the top there is also 220 V, but this will not be in operation due to security requirements.

At the beginning of the car there is a technical area (it’s like a wide corridor near the headquarters near the disabled compartment) - one of the three modules can be mounted there: a bar, a store or a store.



Well, that is, since it’s still a car, it’s a relaxation area with a couple of sofas, a place to store luggage or a couple of vending machines with food. In the model is a coffee machine, a machine with food, a purifayer (it’s like a cooler, only with water purification) and a “standing plate”.

Actually, in the “luggage storage” option from open compartments, extra things can be put here. Apparently, there will be a camera on top to watch. The question so far looks damp, but the obvious convenient solution to all is not yet visible. But it will be possible to carry a bicycle. IMHO, if you increase the free baggage allowance for an open compartment, this can compensate for the inconvenience. Now the "extra" baggage can be folded into the head car, I recall. But at the same time, you and only you are responsible for it.

Passengers offer to put a refrigerator in the zone at the beginning of the car, forgetting that this is a train for 12 hours maximum.

In the reserved seat, the main problem is hanging legs. With this in the current size, you can only make a "herringbone" layout, that is, diagonally. This option with a longitudinal arrangement of seats is also being worked out.

Now the 1-VM dimension (4.56 meters from the rail head level is 3.185 wide) outside. The interior height from floor to ceiling is 2.55 and the width is 2.89 meters. FPK is considering the option of increasing the size of the car by almost 30 centimeters in breadth. The equipment is planned to be placed plus or minus in the same place as in the current versions of reserved seats, but this is not the final engineering solution.

Bugs that you no longer need to report (partially ruled between prototype releases):
  • The passenger eats soup on the top shelf and drips on the bottom - a table by the aisle.
  • “When I charge the phone, there is no place to lean on the side shelf” - there will be a pocket for the phone.
  • The cabinet does not lock - added the ability to lock.
  • The glass slides - 4 cup holders or a rough table (the customer can choose).
  • “I want to go with my child” - a door between adjacent shelves.

The prototype design is the TMX engineering center, that is, ours is executed by our engineers. When it comes to working out for an experimental carriage, foreign work will probably be ordered, but the holding already has its own design laboratory, so it may not be necessary. The car will be in the series not earlier than in a few years, so you can still participate in changing the interior.
