How to use search effectively

Good day. Now I am a little over thirty, and most of my life I use the search on the Internet. Just like most people. But, the more time passes, the more noticeable for me is the fact that many people do not use even a small part of its capabilities.

Due to the nature of the character, I often undertake the solution of new tasks for myself in various fields of activity, with which I was not familiar before. Without an effective search, this would not be possible. Under the cut - my little experience on how you can learn to search and find the information you need on the network.

Verbose Queries

Using long searches with a lot of keywords is a very old recommendation, but it still works. Of course, in most cases, the first composed request will not give the desired result, but after a quick look at the search results and one or two corrections of the request, approximately what is needed opens.

What resources on the network are more likely to get the information you need? Depends on your task. For me, the main sources of information are specialized forums, less often - articles on websites or blogs and commentary tapes (including on Habré).

Today on the Internet, including the Russian-language, a huge amount of knowledge acquired by mankind is available on almost all issues. (The exception is highly specialized materials, for various reasons not publicly discussed both on the Internet and beyond.) A constant lack of knowledge is a thing of the past. The main difficulty in the search was the screening of the "husk" - informational garbage and deliberate misinformation. Since the volume of garbage, in comparison with valuable data, is very large - the search efficiency directly depends on the ability to filter out this garbage.
